I "Mustache" You to Say No to Drugs
Today is "Mustache" day for Drug free week at school! I asked Willow what she wanted to do and all she gave me was "not the normal shirt". What? So, I did some research and didn't find this one anywhere. Which means A. I did my mom job and B. I have a new project to show ya'll!
First you'll need to gather materials. I found a plain white t-shirt, black and pink felt sheets, fabric glue from Allens, white paper, pen, scissors, black embroidery thread, and needle.
I folded the white paper in half and drew my patterns for the heart and mustache. You can also just cut them out on your die cut machine if you wish. I didn't want to break out all my big guns so I just did it old school. I then cut the pattern out and used it on the felt. Quick side tip that I didn't do, I suggest doing your mustache first so you can make sure the heart is bigger, LOL. I had to cut my mustache 3 times to get it to the size I wanted. If you start with the mustache first, you can draw your heart template around it.
After you have your templates, cut out all your pieces. I just winged it with the letters but you could use letters cut from your die cutter, stickers, or iron on letters.
I found this great Fabric Adhesive from Alleens. I like it cause it doesn't clump and it doesn't soak through. Which is important for the pink felt. I've used it on pink, yellow, and white. It doesn't soak through as long as you use very little. And a little goes a long way. After gluing, let it dry for 2-4 hours.
After 2-4 hours, I used black embroidery thread and a yard needle to stitch around the heart. I didn't want it to be perfect, we like things a little askew around here so I just eyeballed it.
I love the way it turned out! Uber cuteness! Just to be sure things wouldn't come back up, I added a little extra fabric glue to the edges of everything. I just placed a bit on the tip of the needle and slid it under all the edges. Worked like a charm.
Now she's all ready to show off her mustache shirt for "I mustache you to say no to drugs" day!
So cute and clever! Love it!
